New Deserts : A Photographic Chronicle of a France Closing In on Itself
This monumental work brings together over 800 photographs documenting the silent closure of local businesses in rural France. Bakers, grocers, cafés, hairdressers, hardware stores, these abandoned shopfronts bear witness to a gradual and largely unreported commercial desertification. 90% of these images were shot on 6×6 film and are presented in an interactive online gallery, which you can access below.
